All lessons are conducted at your preferred location. The most common meeting place is your home or library, however, I am open to meet anywhere
that will provide a quiet area to work.
One-to-One Tutoring
Time during these lessons are spent doing homework assignments together, reviewing previous exams, prepping for upcoming exams, and reteaching prior topics not fully understood. If a student is comfortable with the material learned in a certain week, I can preview the next topic to be taught the following week. Seeing the material prior to learning it in class allows a student to truly focus in when their teacher covers the topic in full.
All of my students receive my cell phone number and are encouraged to text me with any questions they have outside of our sessions. Many of my students like to text me a picture of their work on a problem and ask if it is correct. If incorrect, I will attempt to explain where the error is so the student can figure the problem out on their own. If there is still confusion, I will write out the answer to the problem and text them a picture back. This is particularly helpful if there is a graded assignment due before our next meeting!
If a student's teacher frequently grades homework assignments or gives take-home tests, this tutoring quickly pays for itself as I can guide the student on tough problems and catch careless mistakes leading to point deductions.
In my experience, 1.5 hours is the ideal length of time for a single session. Lengths of sessions are entirely up to you, however, one hour is the minimum time length for a lesson.
Regents Prep
In the weeks leading up to the Regents exams, I can provide individualized prep sessions for any of the math exams. These lessons are spent working through past exams and focusing on lacking concepts. Students working with me throughout the school year will receive preference in scheduling when it comes to Regents prep as my schedule will fill up.
Private School Entrance Exam Prep
Much like Regents prep, I can help prepare a student for an upcoming private school entrance exam. Time will be spent reinforcing important skills and working through practice problems resembling what will be seen on the test.
Group Tutoring
I can offer discounts for small groups within the same math subject. Instruction will be individualized as much as possible. It is preferable that students have similar skill levels and/or the same teacher.
