Wide Range of Experience...
My experience ranges from working with students starting in the 10th
percentile, the 90th percentile and everything in between.
Students with IEP's
In addition to being certified to teach math, I also hold a special education certification. I have been trained to differentiate instruction which is part of the reason why I believe strongly in finding a highly individualized SAT or ACT program. I have tutored students receiving time and a half, double time and even triple time. Processing difficulties can be very frustrating to deal with in the classroom, let alone on these exams. I am patient and understand that concepts may need to be taught in several unique ways until the right approach for the individual student is found.
Many people do not realize that gifted and talented education falls under the scope of special education. I have worked with students with high starting scores looking to crack the highest percentiles, which includes a 7th grader starting in the 90th percentile on the ACT. I've compiled some of the best books and high level problems to help students achieve top scores.
Additionally, I went through the gifted program in my district growing up. While I have not taught within a gifted and talented program, I am familiar with the techniques in challenging students at this level and find it easy to relate with these students.
